This large bird has a powerful voice and is known for its bursts of loud drumming, which carry a great distance. It keeps its long tongue wrapped around its skull all the way to the top of its head,then shoots it out to snare insects with the barbed and sticky tip. Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, BC. Canada
