Lutra Canadensis

River Otter

Fischotter

The River Otter is well adapted to its aquatic life. It is a fast and strong swimmer, both under water or on the surface, appearing like a flexible torpedo, moving either forward or backward with grace and power. Among the most playful of animals, the river otter often amuses itself by rolling about, sliding, diving, or "body surfing" along a rapid current. Vancouver Island, BC. Canada
