The females have the typical camouflage-coloured plumage of the duck. It is dark-brown with traversing maturing that is more closely black. In Norway, the fine dunen from their nests is still collected. Each nest supplies about 18 grams of the valuable dunen, which is used for cushion and sleeping bag fillings. Norway
