Ovibos moschatus

Musk Ox

Moschusochse

The musk ox, with a weight of about 300kg, is the biggest herbivore of the High North. The hairy animal carries an extremely dense fur. Even the udder of the female is hairy. Its fur is finer than Cashmere wool and serves as excellent protection against the cold. Musk ox in defence posture. Dovrefjell near Dombas, Norway.
