Procyon lotor

Raccoon

Waschbär

Native only to the Americas, the raccoon is nocturnal and solitary. It spends the majority of its life on trees, where it sleeps, seeks shelter from enemies, and rests during the winter. In residential areas it can show considerable intelligence. The Raccoon can easily turn doorknobs and open garbage cans as well as refrigerators. Vancouver Island, BC Canada
