Moose

Elch

Moose are the largest members of the deer family. The males can weigh up to 630 kg. The males' antlers have massive, palmate, flat plates with small prongs projecting from the borders. Moose live in spruce forests or aspen and willow thickets, often near lakes and swamps. In the summer they browse on many plants and aquatic vegetation in lakes. In the winter they browse in the willows along river valleys. They are unpredictable: rutting bulls occasionally have charged people, cars and also locomotives. Rocky Mountains, Alberta, Canada
