Tachycineta thalassina

Violet-green Swallow

The violet-green swallow occurs from sea level to 1.400m elevation. The deep, velvety violet-green and contrasting white underparts distinguish this species of swallows. Like other birds, the violet-green lives in colonies of mixed swallow species. They are highly acrobatic and feed almost exclusively on flying insects. Swan Lake, Victoria, BC. Canada
