Arenaria melanocephala

Black Turnstone

Schwarzkopf-Steinwälzer

This bird, strictly a coastal species, migrates and winters along the rocky shorelines of the Pacific Coast. On sandy beaches, a turnstone uses its bill to turn over stones and seaweed in search of food like barnacles and limpets. Mitlenatch Island, Strait of Georgia, BC. Canada
